Charlie Brown, you blockhead

Emily and I did some animated weirdo characters for a music video a little while ago, and now the music video is all alive and finished, and so I can show you! It is for Punks Jump Up, and the song is Blockhead. We did the job for the very lovely Mushie at Partizan, a very brilliant illustrator and awesome director too. If you go on his website, make sure to look at Moleskin B and Rainbow Kids, they are my favourites. Anyway, here is the video:

Spin Spun Span festivities

Hello hello, happy New Year! Some nice news to start a nice new year...

Spin Spun Span will get its film festival premiere at London Short Film Festival! As you may have guessed, LSFF is in London, and to be exact the screening will be held at the Roxy on January 15th at 4pm in the New Shorts: Music & Video category. Do you want more details? Hopefully 50% or maybe even 100% of Emily & Anne will be there.

He is the music man, he comes from round your way

CONGRATULATIONS TO BILLY! AND TOM!

Billy was awarded a lovely certificate on Sunday at the Walthamstow International Film Festival. The certificate was to congratulate Billy for being a great human being, but in particular for being a great musical human being. And also Tom! But Tom wasn't there because he was with his girlfriend.

Billy and Tom wrote the Poo film's song together, in case you didn't know. Billy performed and recorded the song, and that is what you hear throughout our strange animation. I've put the film up for musical prizes before, but there are not many to be honest - there are often categories for music videos, but ours is not a music video, it just has amazing music. I think it would be good if more festivals did recognise musical contribution. It is hard work composing music and designing sound, you've got to have a talent for it - and I have seen a lot of films really ruined by awful sound (although I think the director is as much at fault there)... Anyway, Walthamstow, in their wisdom, have recognised the wonderfulness of the Poo song, and so I am very happy for Billy and Tom. Well done! You both really deserve it!

The Beatles & the Stones made it good to be alone

Well, A Film about Poo will be showing this month at a couple of places around the world. World domination people, that's what it's about. Anywhoo, one of these screenings is at the East End Film Festival, which is in lovely London. I looked at the programme today and on the same bill as us is the wonderful film, Mixtape by Luke Snellin.

I watched this film last night, having heard about it on BBC 6Music a few weeks ago, and it is just ace. I wish I had made it. It's a sweet, sweet story about a little boy who makes a mixtape for a little girl. It's very short, which is a bit rare for "short" live action films, which I think helps make it brilliant. It's not indulgent or trying to hard to fit too much in. The production values and the acting are also very good... But mostly, it's just a lovely story. I have many times been a-wooing with a mixtape in hand. I hope Luke Snellin goes on to make more stuff this good; I'm really pleased to be in the same category as him. Watch Mixtape and love it too!!

Mogul and the Prawn are nice, nice people

I got an email ages ago from a music production company called Mogul & the Prawn. Somehow this email became lost in the innards of my inbox, and it wasn't until the other day that I found it. I forwarded it to Billy Payne, maestro extraordinaire, and he emailed them. Well, apparently Tris, who I think is the titular prawn, is a lovely, lovely guy. He wrote back and said he'd help Billy with any advice he needed about music making. They spoke on the phone today.

So this post is mainly just to tell you that there are good people out there in the big, bad world of "media". The kindness of strangers... (I love Vivien Leigh.)

Also, I should add, if you wish to employ Billy Payne, maestro extraordinaire, then get in touch. He has composed basically all the music and sound on our animations (in collaboration with Tom and Dayo).

I have other news, but I'm holding onto it. I feel like I should space things out in case nothing happens ever again. I say "news", it isn't really, it's just stuff that happens.
