I couldn't be fonder of my big home

Emily and I are currently working on a pitch to make a short film and accompanying exhibition about Congleton town hall. For the non-Northern among you, Congleton is a town not far from me, and its town hall is a big Victorian building, though the site's history is much longer than that. We're in the shortlisted stage, so fingers crossed.

We've set up a mini-site with our treatment and pitch for the project, which you can view here.

We also hope to get feedback and involve the local community in the narrative of the film. It's social media in action! How modern.

Congleton is also known as "Beartown", which clearly makes it awesome.

If you're bored, then you're boring.

Not sure how I managed to not mention this sooner, but Emily and I are doing a workshop this Sunday (so, tomorrow) on storyboarding at the BFI. It's a two hour thing from 3pm for 15-18ish year olds, part of the BFI Future Film Festival. We'll be looking at shot framing, camera angles, animatics, and all that jazz, and then doing a nice bit of drawing. Perhaps you should come!

Here's some sketchbook storyboard designs for A Film about Poo, which in fact we'll be looking at tomorrow:
Be there or be square, etc.

How about this Arienette, how does she fit in to all of this?

Last Friday I went along to the BFI to answer questions in a Q&A session about film festivals and young people. Noel from the BFI asked the questions. It was very interesting, and I met Alex from Adder Film Festival - he set up his own festival with a friend at 15! That is quite an achievement, plus he was very friendly, so it was a lot of fun.

Afterwards, I attended a press junket for the BFI Future Film Festival 2011, which, you may recall, Emily and I recently made the trailer for, after winning Best Animation at said festival last year. Attending press junkets is not how I usually occupy myself. I talked to four different publications! Here is one now; it's Live magazine:

Assuming I can find them on the interwebs, there will be more to follow...

Another pleasant valley Sunday

It's Sunday! And there are screenings. Emily and I will be at the Antelope in Tooting this evening as they screen one of our films in their regular monthly screening session which always happens on Sundays. It's called Sunday Screenings, which is an appropriate title. Which film will they show? Who knows!

Come!

Charlie Brown, you blockhead

Emily and I did some animated weirdo characters for a music video a little while ago, and now the music video is all alive and finished, and so I can show you! It is for Punks Jump Up, and the song is Blockhead. We did the job for the very lovely Mushie at Partizan, a very brilliant illustrator and awesome director too. If you go on his website, make sure to look at Moleskin B and Rainbow Kids, they are my favourites. Anyway, here is the video:
